About me.
Welcome to LB Maths Tuition
Hi, I’m Luke — a fully qualified maths teacher and dedicated full‑time tutor based in Essex. Over the past ten years, I’ve taught and supported more than 150 students, helping them build confidence, strengthen their understanding, and achieve their goals in maths. I teach all key stages, right up to Further Maths A‑Level.
Before focusing solely on my tuition business, I spent eight years teaching in an all‑boys Catholic school, where I served as Second in Department for five years. I later worked part‑time at an all‑girls grammar school while growing LB Maths Tuition into the thriving service it is today.
My Journey Into Teaching
Maths has always been a strong subject for me, but my path wasn’t straightforward. In Year 12, I failed my Maths AS-Level with a U grade — a moment that completely changed how I approach learning. I repeated the year, worked hard, and went on to achieve an A in A-Level Maths. That experience shaped everything that followed: my mathematics degree at the University of Essex, my PGCE, and ultimately my teaching career.
Because I’ve personally struggled with mathematical concepts, I understand how overwhelming the subject can feel. That empathy is at the heart of my teaching. I know what it’s like to be stuck, and I know how to help students move forward with clarity and confidence.
Beyond the Classroom
Outside of teaching, I’m a big sports fan and a proud Crystal Palace supporter. I’m also a qualified Level 1 Table Tennis Coach and Running Coach. Running is a huge part of my life at the moment — I completed the Brighton Marathon in 2025 and am currently training for both the Hamburg and Dublin marathons.
Thank You
Thank you for considering LB Maths Tuition. Whether you’re aiming for exam success, building confidence, or simply wanting to understand maths better, I’d love to support you on that journey.
